3 YEARS IN A ROW!!! Thank you for voting us “Best Massage”. As we all know- The SF Bay Guardian has been the “go to” source for finding the BEST of what San Francisco has to offer. We are honored to have been the pick for best massage 3 years in a row, and we are super sad that the Guardian has recently closed up shop. They have left quite a legacy though, and we couldn’t be more ecstatic to have been a part of it all. R.I.P Guardian

Wow! Project Zen was nominated “Best Massage” for the SF Bay Guardian’s 2012 Best of the Bay poll.
This annual best of release has been a defining list of the BEST this city has to offer since 1974. We couldn’t be more honored to have topped it in our first year open. For nearly 40 years, the SF Bay Guardian has been shining a spotlight on some of the strongest and most innovative businesses in San Francisco.
We truly believe the age old saying that “Word of mouth is the best press.” Below are a few of our favorite reviews from our customers on Yelp! Of course you can always check our page out on Yelp! to get the full list of reviews.
I had the wonderful pleasure of coming into Project Zen several months back. The staff is extremely friendly and very on queue to everyone’s needs. The aromas are refreshing the moment you walk in, and maybe because i’m a big fan of heat and warmth, i already felt at peace when i walked in because of the temperature inside.
I work retail and live in SF without a car, so it’s no wonder my feet are always in dire need of attention. I came in for a feet reflexology, one hour, and to be honest…. my feet were in heaven for the next several days. Not to mention i was also in better moods that afternoon when i headed into work after an amazing foot massage.
definitely cheaper then Kabuki spa over at Japantown, and also, personally i thought the massage itself worked better.
I recommend all my coworkers, out of town friends, and just achey friends to this spot.
I fell in love with this place a month ago and have been back 3 times, plus bought a package to use over the course of the year. Whether its a foot reflexology or back and shoulder it has been great. Staff is awesome. Price is right and it’s clean and very zen like. Can’t say enough good things about my experiences and have recommended to several friends. Everyone agrees this place is great!!
In the aftermath of my most recent breakup, I was emotionally broken and physically numb. AK convinced me that I could use R&R and made a reservation for us at Project Zen–me, for a Swedish massage and her, for foot reflexology. I seriously didn’t know that I wanted or needed a massage until I face-planted on the massage table and teetered between a soothing reality and a sweet dream.
As my therapist kneaded away my stress and tension for 60 minutes, I wondered why I hadn’t gotten a massage in over a year. I felt so relaxed and happy after my Swedish escape–I was glowing like I had woken up in a cabana… on the beach… in the Mediterranean… with someone feeding me freshly caught and grilled octopus. All I was missing was an aperol spritz. After a cold week of rain and mourning, I finally felt like myself again.
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience at Project Zen. We even got hot tea before and after our massages. I think $80 for a 60-minute massage is steep, but there’s a deal this month (March 2012)–eight one-hour massages for $360. Very tempting. I absolutely can’t wait to try the deep tissue and Thai massages.
This place is incredible….I come for the Thai massages– best I’ve ever received, hands down.
I had a couples massage done here to surprise my boyfriend, and everything went exactly as planned. The massage therapists greeted us, offered us slippers and some tea (which has never been offered to me at other businesses) and showed us to our room which was very clean and nicely laid out for the both of us to get changed and place our belongings safely nearby. There were multiple layers of sheets and blankets in case we needed it, and I was pleasantly surprised with the heated massage table. (AWESOME!) To speak to the massage therapist’s competency, she discussed a visual diagram of my body and clarified how much pressure was desired in which areas.. She basically put me to sleep twice and I caught myself drooling a few times because I was so relaxed – which is difficult for me because I usually don’t like being naked around strangers. Definitely recommend this place for couples massages or one for yourself if you want an experience that is catered towards you.
